Since its establishment in 1869 as the first tourism and social address, the Grand Hotel Europa has characterised the life of the provincial capital Innsbruck.
• 1869: Schreiner & Klaisner found Grand Hotel Europa
• 1883: Baroque Hall built by the architects of Bavarian King Ludwig II
• Ludwig II, builder of Neuschwanstein Castle: “This is the most beautiful place in Innsbruck to celebrate festive events.”
• 1920’s/30’s: Start of modern tourism
• 1945: Hotel blaze
• 1964 and 1976: Amongst other guests at the Olympic Winter Games in Innsbruck: King Karl Gustav of Sweden
• July 2007: Italian “Palenca Luxury Hotels” (Palenca Brothers) acquire the Grand Hotel in Innsbruck
• 2008: Renovation and expansion works; lobby, bar and reception area already completed
